Chenomx and GeneGo Offer Metabolomics Data Integration
Chenomx, Inc., a leading provider of software and compound libraries for NMR-based metabolomics, and GeneGo, Inc., a worldwide leader in data analysis solutions for systems biology and pathway analysis, are pleased to announce a partnership to provide metabolomics data integration between their software products.

This partnership combines Chenomx’s powerful and easy-to-use metabolomics software, Chenomx NMR Suite, with GeneGo’s MetaCore and MetaDrug Discovery platform, providing researchers with the ability to perform sophisticated pathway analysis and visualization.

“Chenomx’s partnership with GeneGo offers several significant advantages to our shared customers,” explains Jack Newton, Director of Product Development for Chenomx. “First, our customers will now be able to combine Chenomx NMR Suite’s powerful metabolite identification and quantification capabilities with GeneGo’s pathway analysis tools, thereby improving their interpretation and understanding of the underlying biology.  This integration also allows our customers to integrate genomic and proteomic data sources with their Chenomx metabolomics data.”

“We initiated this partnership based on customer requests for seamless functional analysis of their NMR and mass spec metabolomics data,” said Julie Bryant VP of business development.  “Metabolic data is hugely important in diagnostics and drug discovery, as any major disease fundamentally affects core biochemical pathways. Yet, MetaCore/MetaDrug is the only product in the field which enables direct parsing, pathway and network analysis of human metabolic data and its integration with genomics, proteomics and genetic data. Now, our customers will have this functionality accessed directly from Chenomx software”.

Chenomx Inc. Receives Patents for NMR-based Automated Mixture Analysis Technology
Chenomx Inc., a leading provider of metabolic profiling services and software, has been awarded two U.S. patents for its innovative Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)-based mixture analysis algorithms.

First made available to customers in 2001 through Chenomx NMR Suite, Chenomx’s flagship software product, Chenomx’s mixture analysis algorithms allow users to rapidly identify and quantify compounds in complex mixtures. Chenomx NMR Suite has been initially applied in the field of metabolomics, where it has been used to identify and quantify a broad range of metabolites in complex biofluid samples, including blood, urine and cell extracts.

“We are extremely happy to have the innovation and technical accomplishments that make up Chenomx’s technology platform recognized by the U.S. Patent Office,” says Neil Taylor, President and CEO of Chenomx.

The two patents describe the methods that are embodied in Chenomx NMR Suite for creating unique “signatures” of metabolites and using these signatures to deconvolve complex NMR spectra. These techniques allow complex, information-rich NMR spectra to be transformed into biologically meaningful metabolic profiles – lists of identified and quantified metabolites. In recognition of the innovation and unique nature of Chenomx’s methods, the U.S. Patent Office awarded Patent Nos. 7181348 and 7491069 to Chenomx Inc. on February 20, 2007 and March 13, 2007, respectively. Chenomx’s technology has been previously awarded two patents in the U.K., Patent Nos. 2390166 and 2410599, issued on August 3, 2005 and September 28, 2005, respectively.

Chenomx Inc. Announces Metabolic Profiling Services
Chenomx Inc., a privately-held company that develops proprietary technologies for identifying and quantifying metabolites in complex biofluid mixtures, today announced the debut of metabolic profiling services, making Chenomx’s industry-leading metabolic profiling platform available to the worldwide research community.

Chenomx’s metabolic profiling services enable users to identify and quantify a broad range of metabolites in a number of biofluids, including blood, urine and cell extracts. The information contained in these metabolic profiles can be used to monitor the efficacy of potential drug candidates, to identify pathological reactions to potential drug candidates, and to identify potential biomarkers for diagnostic or toxicological applications.

Chenomx’s metabolic profiling platform is a unique, patented combination of hardware and software optimized for identifying and quantifying metabolites in biofluids. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers with field strengths of up to 800 MHz form the hardware component of the platform, offering high-throughput analysis and sensitive, quantitative, unbiased detection of a broad range of metabolites. Chenomx’s patented NMR mixture analysis algorithms transform information-rich but complex NMR spectra into quantitative metabolic profiles. Chenomx’s software technology is deployed and in use at many of the world’s leading pharmaceuticals and academic research institutions.
“The launch of Chenomx’s metabolic profiling services will help us bring Chenomx’s metabolic profiling technology to the broader research community,” comments Neil Taylor, President and CEO of Chenomx. “Research scientists can now leverage Chenomx’s patented metabolic profiling technology without the need for in-house NMR spectrometers and expertise.”

Chenomx and Umetrics Partner to Provide an Enhanced Metabolomics Analysis Platform
Chenomx, Inc., a leading provider of software and compound libraries used to identify and quantify metabolites in NMR spectra, and Umetrics AB, a worldwide leader in multivariate analysis and modeling software, are pleased to announce a partnership to provide a comprehensive metabolomics solution to researchers worldwide.

This partnership combines Chenomx’s powerful and easy-to-use metabolic profiling software with Umetrics’ proven multivariate analysis software, providing researchers with a turn-key solution for discovering biologically relevant patterns in NMR spectra.

“Metabolomics researchers are faced with two key challenges,” explains Jack Newton, Director of Product Development for Chenomx. “First, they must analyze large NMR data sets, potentially consisting of thousands of NMR spectra, to find meaningful patterns in their data. Translating these patterns into biologically relevant information in the form of metabolite identification and quantification is the second key challenge. These two processes are tightly coupled, and the decision to partner with Umetrics to make the process as intuitive and as effortless as possible for the end-user was a natural one.”

Jan Wahlström, European CEO and Sales Manager, adds “This partnership is great news for scientists working in metabonomics and metabolomics as it provides them with a seamless interface between data collection and data analysis, allowing them to get on with the science.”
